Import bookmarks and other browsing data into Google Chrome

Google Chrome is a popular browser that does not come pre-installed with Windows. This means that over time, users can use Internet Explorer (which is a part of Windows) for their bookmarking needs but later want to migrate them to Chrome.

The same is true with other browsers like Firefox. Fortunately, Chrome makes it really easy to copy these privacy, passwords, and other details directly to Google Chrome in a matter of seconds.

How to import bookmarks and other data

There are several ways to capture copy in Google Chrome, and the method depends on where the bookmarks are currently stored.

Import chrome bookmarks

If you want to import Chrome bookmarks, you already have a backup in an HTML file, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Chrome menu (three dots below the “Exit” button).
  2. Select settings
  3. Under the People section, click the Import Bookmarks and Settings buttons button ….
  4. To load IE bookmarks into Chrome, select Microsoft Internet Explorer from the dropdown menu . Or, select Mozilla Firefox if you need those desired and browser data files.
  5. After you select one of those browsers, you can choose what you want to import, such as browsing history , preferences, passwords, search engines, and form data.
  6. Click this information to turn on the Chrome copy.
  7. Right- click to close that window and go back to Chrome.
