How to enable personal browsing mode in Maxthon Cloud Browser

Maxthon lets you share and sync files between Windows, Mac and Android

This tutorial applies only to users running Maxthon Cloud Browser on Linux, Mac and Windows operating systems.

While the Maxthon Cloud Browser lets you store some of your data remotely, it also provides the ability to provide things like syncing your open tabs across different devices , saving the URL history , cache, cookies and other remnants of your local device’s browsing session . . These items are used by Maxthon to speed up page loads and automatically improve web browsing and other browsing experiences. There are some downsides to this benefit, however, depending on your perspective. If some of this potentially sensitive information ends up in the wrong hands, it could expose privacy and security risks.

This is especially true when browsing the web on a device other than your own. To avoid leaving the track behind when you’re browsing, it’s best to use Maxthon’s personal browsing mode.

This tutorial walks you through the process of activation across multiple platforms.

  1. Open your Maxthon Cloud Browser .
  2. Click Maxthon’s menu button , represented by three broken horizontal lines and located in the upper right corner of the browser window. Maxthon’s main menu will now appear.
  3. The new window section at the top of the drop-down has three buttons: General, Private and Session. Click Personal

Personal browsing mode is now enabled in a new window, illustrated by the dress and daggershish silhouette in the upper left corner. When surfing in private browsing mode, personal information elements such as browsing history, cache and cookies will not be stored on your local hard drive.
